Successes And Failures In Copper Mining In Frederick County
A Maryland Historical Magazine article by Mrs. Frank G. Lesure reviews copper mining history in Frederick County. It notes 18th and 19th century production, mines such as New London Liberty Dolly Hyde Unionville and Repp, and limited 20th century activity including attempts by Liberty Copper Mining Co and Linganore Copper Co. No copper has been produced in Maryland since 1917, though exploration continued intermittently through the 1950s with mixed results and uncertain future prospects.
