FHS Student Captures International Awards
Frederick High School senior Charles R. Bokesch won three awards at the 15th National Science Fair in Baltimore. He took first place from the US Atomic Energy Commission for his project Micrococcus Radiodurans, Bacterial Protection Against Radiation, and earned honorable mention from the American Society of Microbiology. Bokesch is the county’s first national fair award winner and will join a trip to Nuclear Science Orientation Week at Argonne National Laboratory with his teacher Mrs. Anna May Hughes.

A Walkersville High School three member FFA team won first in livestock judging at the state contest held Friday at the University of Maryland and will compete nationally in Kansas City next October. Frederick hosts the 13th annual state Jaycee Road-E-O with 30 competitors from 29 areas. Local champions Christopher Ganley and Coral Brandenburg will compete, following a Friday party at the Holiday Inn and culminating in an awards banquet at the same venue.

Klipp Brothers Arrested After Pine Avenue Fight
City Police charged Richard Wayne Klipp 18 and Robert Franklin Klipp 21 with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a confrontation with officers on Pine avenue Friday around 10 45 p m. Police said both brothers joined in the confrontation with two officers and a patrolman. Sgt J Frank Main Jr Cpl Paul W Mossburg and Officer Ray N Dietz made the arrests.
