E A James son of Mr and Mrs Edward James East Church street Frederick has been named secretary of the Chamber of Commerce to succeed Charles S Gregg. He will begin duties in June after completing Georgetown law studies and plans to take the Maryland bar exam in October. James is a Frederick native with a varied career including service in the National Guard and duty with The News and The Post. He is now in the Department of State in Washington and will practice law locally after graduation.

Chicago May 11 Judge Kinkham Scanlon refused to issue a writ of habeas corpus freeing Cornelius Shea and John Lafferty labor leaders arrested after the killing of two policemen during a wave of labor bombings.
