Man of Six Killed by Falling Chestnut Limb Near Foxville

Victor M. Fox, 43, on his brother’s farm near Foxville, was killed when a hollow chestnut limb struck him as he cut a tree. An eight year old son witnessed the accident. Fox died instantly. an inquest is planned. Funeral services set for Thursday at the Lutheran church. Fox left a widow and six children.

Russian reply not delivered to conference

In Genoa on May the Russian reply to the Allied memorandum was ready for presentation but not delivered at the last moment. A conversation between Foreign Minister Tchitcherin and Italian Schanz decided the reply must undergo alterations before being presented to the Allies.

Three Chicago Labor Leaders Arrested in Violent Clashes

The Associated Press reports police swept through the Building Trades Labor quarters in Chicago and arrested three top labor leaders Tim Murphy Fred Mader and Rhelius Shea in connection with a wave of shootings and a bombing linked to a broader labor war. Memorial Trees to Honor Lincoln Highway Dedication

Mail delays from Western Maryland strike disrupt Thurmont delivery

The Western Maryland strike delays early mail arriving in Thurmont for a third time this month. Freight from Baltimore to Thurmont via Hagerstown and Frederick is about 20 minutes late, delaying business and public at 9:30 AM. Col D John Markey of the Chamber of Commerce urged General Manager Gray to investigate and remedy the situation.

Old Monocacy Church 175th Anniversary Celebration Planned

The 175th anniversary of Old Monocacy Reformed church and 200th of Monocacy village will be observed by St. John's Reformed Church Creagerstown from May 30 to June 4. The United States may owe as much as 25 million dollars in royalties to Krupp over cotton patents linked to discoveries by American engineers. Truck Tire Blows On Way To St Marys School Celebration

A Brunswick Fire Department celebration event was disrupted when a motor van en route from Baltimore to Brunswick blew a tire in front of Miver Wren’s Red Hill residence.
