Westview tax auction won’t stall rezoning plan
Frederick County auctioned 700 properties for delinquent taxes, including Westview with 458 acres zoned for mixed use. The auction won’t affect J F Forstmann Co. and Westview Associates Limited Partnership liabilities or the county’s public hearing on the mixed use rezoning, as investors bid to loan taxes rather than transfer ownership.

Washington AP reports heated debate as Gettysburg College altered land in Gettysburg National Military Park without Civil War historian input. The House subcommittee held a hearing on the 1990 land swap amid claims of federal law violations and rising reliance on exchanges as federal funds fade. Rep. Mike Synar called the actions historic vandalism and urged stronger congressional oversight. Rep. Michael Andrews testified.
