State proposes larger Victor Cullen Center jail population

SABILLASVILLE The state Department of Juvenile Services plans to raise the Victor Cullen Center inmate cap from 125 to 184 for non-violent offenders aged 13 to 18. A public meeting is set for 2 p.m. May 14 at the school gym, hosted by Youth Services International.

Dhillon Among Top Congressional Fund Raisers in 1994 Race

Cumberland Democrat Neil Dhillon stands among the nation’s leading congressional fund raisers in his bid to defeat Roscoe Bartlett in Maryland’s 6th District. FEC data through March 31 show Dhillon at $312,464 raised, placing him ahead of five other challengers nationwide. Total 1994 reads show candidates raising over $228.4 million in the first 15 months, nearing the 1992 peak.

Hectic final tax sale marks Brittain’s last run as treasurer

Frederick County Treasurer Martha Ann Brittain presided over a hectic final tax sale in Winchester Hall as about 700 properties were listed versus 423 last year. McClellan to seek House seat again after months of anguish

Delegates James E. McClellan of Frederick County announces he will run for re election after five months of anguish over his pledge to retire. County workers to receive 39 percent COLA boost
