Irradiated Food Served to Congressmen in Lunch Demo
Washington May 9 The Army served Congressmen and newsmen a luncheon featuring food treated by atomic irradiation to resist spoilage. The two month old irradiated fare contrasted with a 1911 England can of black currant jelly found by the Deep Freeze expedition. The demonstration, led by Secretary Wilber M. Brucker, used irradiated provisions for all items except coffee.
