14 Unionists Are Fired By Ford Co

Ford Motor Company fired 14 unionists amid a 60,000 worker strike and mass picketing at the Dearborn plant gates. Dearborn officials refused Ford’s request for more police protection, with Mayor Hubbard asserting gates remained open. The firings followed wildcat walkouts before yesterday’s general strike and included four CIO United Auto Workers committeemen, including Mike Donnelly, chairman of the B building unit central to the speed up dispute.

Negro Actor Rex Ingram Pleads Guilty in Kansas Case

Rex Ingram a 54 year old actor pleaded guilty in Federal Court to transporting a 15 year old girl from Salina Kansas to New York for immoral purposes and to sending a lewd letter through the mails. He faces sentencing at the October term in Kansas City. Ingram is known for De Land in The Green Pastures.

Safety Patrol Parade May 14 in Frederick area

Frederick city and county will be well represented in the annual Safety Patrol Parade staged by schoolboys and girls at Washington on Saturday May 14. About 25,000 to 30,000 participate in the Washington parade and local plans include transporting 365 students from at least 18 area schools. The group will travel by bus with Frederick High School Band, escorted by state police, plus a Red Cross mobile unit and two nurses aides. Local sponsors include many civic and business groups. luncheon noted this will be the last Advisory Board meeting until September.
