The Alexander pinball act in Frederick County will generate over 10,000 yearly, funds split equally between Emergency Hospital capital improvements and the county general fund. The bill, introduced by Delegate Horace M. Alexander and amended by Senator Edward D. Storm, was signed by Governor Lane. It licenses about 250 machines at 50 dollars annually plus 500-dollar licenses for operators with three or more machines. First licenses run June 1, 1949 to April 30, 1950, pro-rated. Free plays remain legal. cash payoffs remain illegal. traditional slot machines stay outlawed.

No Foul Play In Death Of Negro
A county inquiry into the death of Joseph Holand, 50, a farm hand, found no foul play. Sheriff Guy Anders, Deputy George F. Crouse, and State Police Sgt. W. W. Corbin conducted the probe.
