The Walkersville Elementary PTA honored librarian Katharine T Powell with a This Is Your Life program as about 350 attendees celebrated her career and retirement plans. The event featured a life reenactment, a student scrapbook, gifts, and a slate of 1972-73 officers announced for the school.

The Maryland Nurses Association stages Clinical Sessions in Ocean City with the theme Innovations in Nursing in Maryland. M Lucille Kinlien will give Friday luncheon remarks. she was a pioneer nurse who opened her own practice and teaches at Georgetown University. Over 400 nurses expected with sessions on school nursing, emergency care, extended care and satellite health programs.
