Kent State killing remembered by area students in Silver Spring
Twenty years after Allison Krause helped plant flowers in Kent State protest, Kennedy High School students remembers her with a 45 foot pink dogweed tree and rainbow granite slab bearing her memory. The donation raised about $400 for the memorial as the community reflects on the 1970 killings and campus protests.

Disabled man sues PG police after arrest in Lanham
A disabled Lanham man acquitted of assaulting a Prince George's County officer has filed a federal excessive force lawsuit alleging wrongful arrest and civil rights violations. Richard E Wells, a DoD file clerk, seeks over 10 million dollars, naming Officers Randy Smith and CH Grimmett and the county. The suit claims he was dragged, struck with a nightstick, and injured during removal to a cruiser after a melee outside a fast food restaurant. The county denies excessive force and says Wells fell after pushing the officer.
