Taylor Speaks To Rotarians At luncheon talk on highway history
LeRoy Taylor Division Engineer U S Bureau of Public Roads spoke to Rotarians on highway problems tracing roots back to colonial times. He noted toll roads financed privately and the shift from roads to railroads before 1890, and Hagerstown as his base. He highlighted federal aid acts beginning 1916, state departments, and the 1954 push for a more robust nationwide system to handle postwar traffic growth. Rotarian William Hardy introduced him with visiting Rotarians and hosts listed.
