James Otis King prominent dairy operator died suddenly at his home near Ballenger Creek at 83 after weeks of ill health. He built a large Frederick County dairy business and served as president of Federal Farms Dairy Corp. Survived by a son Carton and daughters, a sister, a brother, seven grandchildren, and two nephews. Funeral at Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Fire started Monday in weeds behind Kes Chevrolet Sales at East Patrick Street due to two boys age 10 and 13 playing with matches. The blaze spread to a rear shed and caused extensive damage to the ceiling and shop equipment worth about 10000 dollars.
