YMCA leaders toast success of Community Partnership drive
Volunteers and staff gathered at 44 North Restaurant on April 39 to celebrate the Y's Community Partnership campaign. The funds supported scholarships totaling over $229,000 for more than 1,237 children and adults in 1997, ensuring access to summer camp, child care, aquatics, and other programs. Hood College students sweep chemistry awards at Bucknell
Hood College seniors Rebecca Sanderlin and Erin Goley won first and second in the biochemistry division at the 62nd Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention held at Bucknell University. Sanderlin presented HIV coreceptor structure and function studies funded by NSF under Hood chemists Sharron Smith and Randall Owens. Goley presented subcloning for protein expansion in E coli, funded by USDA ARS, under Oney Smith with USDA Fort Detrick collaborators.
