Officers Jaukus Levine and Diane Hawker helped store workers pull seven baby ducks from a storm drain on Thomas Johnson Drive. The mother was absent, so the ducks were placed with the Frederick County Humane Society and later transferred to a wildlife rescuer to rehabilitate.

Rotorex Fined Five Thousand for Water Contamination Disclosure
Rotorex paid a 5000 fine after pleading guilty to providing misleading information to the Maryland Department of the Environment about its well water. Court records show Rotorex failed to reveal volatile organic compounds VOCs in water. South African drug firm to locate in Maryland
A Maryland agency announced that Capricorn Pharma Inc will open a 30 000 square foot facility off English Muffin Way as its first U S base. The company plans to invest 4.5 million and hire 15 workers initially with five more later that year. Local Woman Killed in U S 15 Two-Vehicle Crash
Sandra Elaine Long administrative assistant to Frederick County Commissioners President Mark Hoke died Friday morning in a two vehicle crash on U S 15 at Fish Hatchery Road. The 47 year old Frederick resident failed to yield and pulled into the path of Lorraine Farmick 50 of Fairfield Pa. Farmick sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. Long was flown to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and pronounced dead. Traffic was halted for about an hour while authorities investigated.
