Firebug confession ties Belle Vista arson to nine deaths
Philadelphia report cites Nicholas Verna of Upper Darby admitting he started last night's blaze at the 47 year old Belle Vista Sanatorium. He had prior arson convictions and was taken to Valley Forge General Hospital after a three hour grilling. At least 60 people were injured as firemen and staff evacuated bedridden patients and nine inmates perished in the flames.
