Capitol Milk marks best year amid new challenges

Capitol Milk Producers Cooperative Inc met at Turf Valley near Ellicott City for its 37th annual luncheon and 1977 business session. President Richard Dudderar hailed 1977 as the coop’s strongest year with nearly $95 million in sales, while warning of surplus milk, energy costs, and declining liquid-milk consumption ahead. Clyde Crum succeeded Dudderar as president, with Ward Zigler named first vice president and a full board reelected, as managers outlined rising overproduction costs and the need for stronger sales and promotion.
