Five Frederick residents die in Adirondack plane crash
A Beechcraft Aztec crashed near Big Haystack Mountain in the Adirondacks killing Gregory J. Hayward a Frederick lawyer his wife Lisa Wicks Olson Hayward their son Jonathan Lidl manager at Giant Food and George Gunther pilot and coowner of Automotive Parts and Machines Inc of Frederick. The crash occurred Sunday morning in rugged snow covered terrain eight miles from Adirondack Airport with wind gusts up to fifty miles per hour and poor visibility. FAA investigators began examining tapes while EMS helicopters confirmed there were no survivors. Funeral arrangements for Lidl and Hayward’s families were to be announced.

Emmitsburg Youth Dies In Maryland Collision
A 19 year old Emmitsburg resident, Robert Leo Wivell, died after his car skidded from Md 87 into a tractor trailer at Md 97 and Tract Road. Police cited driver error speed and alcohol as factors. Mason Lee Herrod of Baltimore was uninjured. Investigating officer Robert Dammann noted this was Frederick County’s second fatality of the year.
