Seven Frederick County teams reach Odyssey of the Mind state
At the regional Odessa Mind event in Hagerstown seven of ten Frederick County teams advanced to the state competition set for April 27 at the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus. Walkersville Middle School placed all three teams in the state round. Urbana Elementary and North Frederick Elementary also earned tickets to the state meet.

Frederick approves postcard second notices for utility bills
The Frederick City Utility Committee approved sending second overdue notices by postcard to save postage and handling costs. Finance director Gerry Kolbfleisch was authorized to switch from letters to postcards, as postcards cost 19 cents versus 29 cents for letters. Alderman Sally Murphy noted the change reduces time, labor, and envelope expenses.

Hemlock Point Road to be paved under county agreement
Frederick County Commissioners approved an addendum with West Winds Limited Partnership to pave Hemlock Point Road. The deal includes 220 water and sewer hookups over three years at 3000 per hookup, a 447,750 letter of credit, and plans for a permanent Lake Singanore water plant.
