Barnes Named Chief Narcotics Prosecutor in Frederick County
Jerry F. Barnes, 42, a former Carroll County assistant state's attorney with 13 years in drug crime work, becomes Frederick County State's Attorney’s chief narcotics enforcement officer. Confiscated Drug Assets Fund Covert Surveillance Vehicle
Frederick County Sheriff’s Office will equip a police vehicle using drug fund proceeds from seized dealers. Commissioners approved about 33 thousand dollars for phased surveillance gear, with first phase around 15 thousand. Sheriff Harbaugh says the covert vehicle will help spy on criminals without revealing deputy presence. No other county agency has such undercover capability. The drug fund derives from sales of seized items and supports anti drug efforts.
