Emmitsburg to join MET watershed preservation effort
Emmitsburg will sign Thursday night to place a 200 acre tract south of Hampton Valley road into the Maryland Environmental Trust conservation easement program. The agreement preserves land uses forever, prevents residential commercial and industrial development, and keeps hunting and hiking allowed while protecting the town water supply. The town owns the land and donates the easement. approval by MET and board is required. Charlestown in Cecil County previously joined the program as a watershed preserving example.
