Frederick wastewater plant cited for minor discharge violation
State health officials found minor problems with water discharged from Frederick City Wastewater Treatment Plant into the Monocacy River. Officials said the discharge shows a slight excess of sewage and low oxygen levels in parts of 1984 and 1985, a technical but not significant violation. The city plans a $16 million new plant to replace the 1930s facility, expected finish by July 1987, with flow increases contingent on correcting the discharge ratio.

Frederick County blue laws repeal appeal faces House panel
Supporters pressed a repeal of Frederick County Sunday blue laws before the House Judiciary Committee, aiming to reverse last year’s 13-8 defeat.
