Renn May Be Candidate For City Mayor's Post
A. Irvin Renn, president of the Frederick County Commissioners, says he has been asked by several people to run for mayor of Frederick City but has not decided yet. The incumbent Mayor E. Paul Magaha withdrew, opening a crowded field with potential candidates from both parties. Renn is also seeking re election to the county board though observers view him as a strong mayoral prospect. Party conventions must decide slates by June 4 for the June 14 general election.

Maryland moves to create statewide educational TV network
Maryland lawmakers resolved a deadlock over control of a seven station educational television network with a $10 million price tag to launch within three to five years. The plan places the network under the Maryland Television Commission with the Department of Education retaining education program authority and school daytime viewing priorities. Stations are planned for Baltimore Cumberland Hagerstown Frederick Waldorf College Park and Salisbury. The governor is set to receive the authorization bill, while budget reductions totaling about 1.69 million dollars were discussed in the Senate amid tax program opposition.

Full Slate To Seek Offices In Middletown
Middletown nominators selected a full slate for town offices at a Tuesday convention. Burgess Floyd E. Stine will face Mrs. Charles E. Ritchie for the top post, while five commissioner seats go to Floyd C. Main G. Millard Derr Jerry Marrene Ellsworth McGaha Ray C. Gladhill Harold Kefauver Fred Kefauver Wilam Horman William Lantz and John Carter with incumbents Main Derr McGaha Gladhill and Fred Kefauver. Registration is March 30 and election April 4. A two car crash on U.S. 40 near the DanDee Motel sent two men to Frederick Memorial Hospital. Frank Paul Bogdan and John W. Aspey were injured. Bogdan released, Aspey held for observation. Police report Bogdan’s 1959 car crossed the center line and collided head on with Aspey’s 1961 car. both vehicles demolished. No charges filed.
