Blue chip stocks rallied late Tuesday lifting the Dow Jones industrial average to within about 250 points of 9,000 after erasing an early loss. J.P. Morgan, Merck, DuPont, American Express, and 3M are named among gainers as the market posted a second straight record close.
Mobile Tool International plans to complete 1,100 trucks with aerial lifts for cable and electric companies. Two hundred seventy-six trucks sit at Highland Avenue and 100 at Hughes Ford Road with more expected. The company, founded in 1965 as General Cable and renamed in 1995, employs 64 people in Frederick. Mayor Grimes calls this a key economic development move, boosting the city’s visibility nationwide.

Summerfield Suites will open a 140 suite hotel at 200 Skidmore Blvd Gaithersburg on Wednesday April 1. The property offers two bed two bath suites with separate TVs phones kitchens living areas and a 24 hour convenience store and breakfast buffet. Lafarge Corp plans to buy Redland Genstar along with Redland Quarries Inc and Western Mobile Inc from S.A. of Paris in a $690 million deal. The purchase spans Maryland New York Ontario and western states, aims to boost market reach and technology sharing, with no immediate workforce cuts expected. The proposal requires securities regulator approvals in multiple jurisdictions.
