Gun bill to hold purchases for 18 days dies in committee

Student injured in fight at Frederick High School

Frederick City Police were called to Frederick High School for a second day as a 16-year-old student suffered an eye injury in a 8:30 a.m. fight with a 17-year-old. The cornea transplant from November 1996 was damaged, and the student was moved from Frederick Memorial Hospital to Georgetown University Hospital for surgery to reconstruct the eye.

Middletown teen charged after assault on teacher

A 15 year old Middletown High School student was charged with assault after slamming a volleyball at teacher Elizabeth Cowperthwaite in the gym. The ball struck her head causing a neck injury and knocked her notebook away while students saw the incident and the student laughed.
