March on the Monocacy Cleanups Sparks River Conservation
A county study urges a 500 foot river corridor and a permanent advisory board for river management. About 700 volunteers from Mormon youth groups, the Monocacy Canoe Club, Cub Scouts, Fort Detrick staff, and Sierra Club will join a multi-section cleanup from Marsh and Rock creeks to the Potomac. Tree planting, landowner permission, and a later April 20 event are planned, with a Monocacy Watershed Conservancy to fund easements and future monitoring.
