Maryland Day Special Programs Spotlight Annapolis History
Maryland public schools will hold special programs for Maryland Day to mark Lord Baltimore’s colony. The State Board of Education outlines a year by year plan, with Annapolis as the 10th fixed topic, focusing on how the ancient city became Maryland’s capital and its pre revolution heyday. The schedule lists yearly titles from 1904 to 1912 and notes Annapolis’ social prominence and historic houses. A separate visit by the State Sanitary Live Stock Board and Dr. Lawrence Hickman followed hydrophobia concerns after a collie went mad at a local farm near Ellicott City, with cattle examined for signs.
