Plan To Probe Maryland Roads Commission Defeated

ANNAPOLIS March 14 The Maryland Senate failed to pass a bill to probe the State Roads Commission. The House of Delegates killed a bill to give the roads commission a say on highway builds. Delegates also rejected chiropractors using the State Health Laboratory but enacted Hood College scholarships. Senate vote against the probe was 12 to 9 with 15 needed. Turnbull refused another attempt as debates grew quiet. The measure drew focus on a $568 million, 12 year roads program and related concerns of favoritism in a harbor tunnel project. Budget, tax and other reforms were debated alongside.
