Woman Dies of Natural Causes After Fall

Ella May Virginia Lyles of Hyattstown died at Frederick Memorial Hospital about nine hours after admission for treatment following a fall at home Sunday night. Autopsy by county medical examiner Dr. Robert J. Furie found death due to complications after an aneurysm caused the fall. Born July 28, 1883, she was survived by ten children and several relatives. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at M. R. Etchison and Son funeral home, with interment at Montgomery Chapel Cemetery in Hyattstown.

Red Cross Seeks Clothes For Family After Fire

Admiral Allen G. Quynn of the Frederick County Red Cross asks for clothing and furniture for Mrs. Catherine Shane and her three children who lost everything in a March 7 fire. Contact the Frederick Red Cross Chapter for details. The family includes a six year old boy and five year old twins, a boy and a girl. Police news in Baltimore reports a suspended officer, Anthony J. Culotta, 30, jailed six months after conviction for petty larceny for taking a battery charger and air compressor from an automotive shop.

Valued Discovery Unearthed Prehistoric Skeletons Near Potomac

Two prehistoric skeletons were found by Nicholas Yinger and Ralph Fout along the Potomac River, possibly 150 centuries old. The remains, two large male adults in a sagittal position, show fatal arrowhead injuries and were uncovered after seven hours of digging on March 5. The skull and vertebrae show bone-tipped points penetrating heart, neck, and brain areas, suggesting death in combat. Excavation reached 23 feet deep, with skeletons nearly six feet long, and the site yielded no other artifacts.

Calvary Methodist class meets. Frederick Civil War bill eyed

The Susannah Wesley Class of Calvary Methodist Church met March 10 with prayer led by Mrs. Noel Gross. Guest speaker was Emmett Bowlus, Comptroller of Customs, and refreshments were served. A second note reports Rep Hyde offering a bill to pay Frederick, Maryland $200,000 for Civil War money paid to Confederate forces under Jubal Early in 1864. a similar Senate measure by Sen Beall also exists.
