Streets Committee approves May 18 Parade for Jesus
The Streets and Sanitation Committee granted conditional approval for the May 18 March for Jesus parade using the city’s official route after previously disallowing an alternate path due to traffic and police concerns. Alderman Kreissig warned against favoring one group. Parade organizer Sharon Solano aims to surpass last year’s turnout of 40 churches and 500 people, uniting Christians in praise. The panel also backed plans to extend an alley behind South and All Saints streets to Ice Street to improve parking, despite police concerns about crime risk. Daniel Lathrop led the push, with Plains Commission member Michael Williams stressing alley accessibility to ease residents’ parking pressures.
