Snowstorm Drops Two Inches Across Western Maryland
Winter's fourth snowstorm hits the city and county with about two inches of snow. Temperatures plunged to 18 degrees as plows cleared main routes and two to three foot drifts were tackled earlier in the day. State police noted clear routes to Cumberland with some snow west of the city. Western Maryland reported similar totals including Cumberland and Hagerstown. Shipping and train schedules were hampered while trucks distributed cinders for icy sections. Northeast winds prompted storm warnings along the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic seaboard. Annapolis saw light snow while the Eastern Shore had rain and some snow. Eastern Shore farmers welcomed the moisture.
