Bradley and Montgomery debated crossing strategies, while 9th Armored Division troops seized the bridge before German efforts to destroy it succeeded. Engineers and survivors earned medals, though a German officer faced punishment. a later reflection recalls the cost and fate surrounding the bridge and the war's turning moment. SPCA meets at library as well.
