A nominating committee was named for the coming year. The May meeting may cover a Career Conference Night. Refreshments followed. Thurmont PTA to stage Arsenic and Old Lace March 18 and 19. Four men inducted into Selective Service No. 45 volunteered for service and were sent to Baltimore for processing.

Navy Unit Commendation Awarded in Europe Ceremony
The ceremony honored Navy personnel aboard the attack transport USS Noble for the Pacific Fleet commendation. James B. Bentz of Graceham Maryland received the award, as his family and the Thurmont High School community watched. Ground searchers near Mount Timpanogos, Utah faced heavy snow seeking the fate of two crashed test planes.

Eisenhower Receives Shoulder Bursitis Therapy
President Eisenhower was taken to Walter Reed Army Hospital for the first in a new series of bursitis treatments on his right shoulder. The White House said the therapy is a form of exercise and he plans several more sessions after returning to the White House. He had gone to the hospital for heat treatment earlier in the week.
