Dairy farmers to get up to five thousand in aid
Washington reports a one time federal help program could provide dairy farmers with as much as five thousand dollars each funded from last year’s farm bailout. The Agriculture Department noted milk prices fell sharply with a six dollar drop per hundred pounds, spurring the relief. Secretary Dan Glickman warned further declines threaten smaller dairy producers and said the aid would help them survive the price drop.
