A second winter storm in two weeks dumped up to eight inches across Maryland counties by Tuesday evening with more accumulating. Schools in many districts closed or opened late while Frederick County kept classes but delayed start. fourteen inches were reported in Oakland and ten in Mayo. Police and rescue crews reported numerous weather related accidents as crews salted and plowed through the night.

Remembering Tracey Kirkpatrick candlelight service planned
Tracey Kirkpatrick a 17 year old Frederick County senior was stabbed to death March 15 1989 in Point of Rocks. Her parents Billy and Diane Kirkpatrick announce a candlelight service at Brunswick High School on Monday at 8 to 9 pm in her memory. They hope the event will jog memories and bring closure as DNA tests proceed and a possible confession could lead to a plea. The service will honor Tracey beyond her death as a loving, giving person.

Farmer Ralph Shank dies at 68 in Hagerstown
Ralph William Shank of 18411 Wagaman Road died Tuesday March 9 at home. He was 68 and husband of Patricia Ann Shank who died in 1996. A lifelong member of Salem Flag Unites Church of Christ he served as Sunday school secretary and presided in several roles. He held leadership posts with Maryland and National Ayrshire Breeders Association and other farming groups including Central Maryland Farm Credit Ske wer Inc and Purebred Dairy Cattle Association. He was active in 4-H Farm Bureau and Southern States Cooperative and was inducted into prominent dairy cattle organizations.

Educator George Seaton dies at 70
George Merle Seaton, 70, of Walkersville, died Monday at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Survived by wife Dona Maye Rawlings Seaton and three sons, with a grandson. A veteran of the U S Army, he taught in Frederick County schools, held multiple administrative posts, and retired in 1986 before working at Hood College and as an advertising consultant. Born February 13, 1929, in Dunbar Pennsylvania, he was a longtime member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
