Minorities and women wait longer for liver transplants
Johns Hopkins researchers report minorities and women face longer waiting times for liver transplants than white men. The 27 month review of 7,422 records finds medical factors explain part of the gap but socioeconomic issues and financing may also delay lists. Foreign nationals and Asians waited varied intervals, with a national median of 76 days.
