Toilet paper bomb threat empties office building
A bomb threat scrawled on toilet paper emptied a four story office building at 5202 Presidents Court. About 1,500 people were evacuated as deputies and security staff searched with a bomb sniffing dog. No device was found and employees returned inside around 4:20 p.m. The event followed a similar late night threat at the same site months earlier.

Holt ordered to undergo mental tests in murder case
Maryland Circuit Court ordered 60 day mental evaluations for Donald Holt to assess competence to stand trial and criminal responsibility for the murder of his wife Nancy Adams Holt. Holt, 44, is accused of killing her Jan 18 after an argument, then disposing of her body and car at a BWI Airport parking lot. Also pending are motions to suppress a police statement and evidence from a hospital search. Trial within 180 days is standard in Maryland. Holt appeared in court on Feb 27.

Boonsboro aide fined in sex exposure case
A former Boonsboro High School teacher's aide, Brenda Sue Hargett, 35, of Hagerstown, avoided jail after pleading to giving three students alcohol and agreeing to treatment for psycho sexual problems. She must pay $1425 in fines and costs. Prosecutors dropped sexual allegations involving two male students aged 16 and 17.

Damascus student cut by table saw in class accident
A Damascus High School sophomore suffered a deep cut to a finger during cabinet making class and was flown by helicopter to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Principal Bastress said the finger was not amputated and the student remained conscious after the noon incident.

Man Faces Intoxication and Drug Charges
A Sykesville man, Kevin Paul DeGrief, 32, was arrested early Tuesday after a suspected DWI stop on I-70 west of Md. 27 at Mount Air. Frederick County troopers said a cell phone tip led to the stop. A search found marijuana and paraphernalia. DeGrief faced charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was released after processing.
