Local students win at international science fair in Toronto
Two Frederick County youths earned second place at the 46th annual International Science and Engineering Fair in Toronto Canada. Laura Rau and Jeffrey Maschik recent Gov Thomas Johnson and Singapore High School graduates won second place for projects on cationic lipid vesicles and HIV viral envelope shedding.

Reading leaders at Kemptown Reading honors recipient Doane
Brittany Doane, a fourth grade student at Kemptown Elementary, is inducted into the Accelerated Reader International Reading Honor Roll for 1994 95. She led 243 students by passing 114 books and earning 532 points based on tests and book difficulty. Josh Kestle, a fifth grader, holds the two year cumulative lead with 92 tests and 622 points.

Technical aid aids Kemptown pupil with Dragon Dictate
Carl Mack of Dynamic Business Systems assisted Brett Smith, a Kemptown Elementary third grader, in learning the voice activated Dragon Dictate program. Resource teacher Sue Collins had written a grant to fund the software, and Mack offered help installing part of it.
