Festival of the Arts Draws Thousands Despite Rain

Frederick City Police Officer Paul Gray Retires After 22 Years

Pilot dies as Cessna crashes near Gambrill State Park

The body of pilot Steve Weisbrod of Randallstown and wreckage of a single engine Cessna were found near Gambrill Park Road. Weisbrod was en route from Richmond to Clearview Airpark, with cause undetermined. Rescue efforts involved CAP cadets and about 100 ground searchers plus seven planes, hindered by dense foliage and rain. The search extended from Friday night to Sunday evening.

Fort Ritchie Closing Seen Having Limited Frederick County Impact

Fort Ritchie will close with minimal economic effects on Frederick County. A spokesman said the main impact will be felt in nearby Washington and Franklin Counties, with local small stores in Cascade hit hardest.
