Monocacy Battlefield Could Lose Federal Funding
Federal budget talks threaten Monocacy National Battlefield in Frederick County with either a 10 percent annual cut for three years or elimination of funding for 200 small parks nationwide. Park manager John Howard and Interior spokeswoman Stephanie Hanna warn the impact would curtail staff, education programs, and events at the 1,670 acre site with a $300,000 annual budget.
