Sunken sub story questioned off Cape Cod in 1944
A former Navy blimp pilot claimed he dropped a bomb that sank a Nazi submarine near Cape Cod in October 1944. Others from Squadron ZP-11 dispute the tale, saying no such sinking occurred. German officials question the claim and note the U-boat’s last position near Iceland. A Michaud spokesman cites an official secrecy flag on the sinking report.
