City Wording Reforms Trash Rules for Downtown Businesses
The City of Fredenck plans to revise its commercial trash collection policy at the July 15 mayor and aldermen meeting, with implementation on January. Downtown businesses will obtain all refuse collection from the city, receiving two 160 gallon pickups weekly funded by the city, with additional services billed to customers. Outside the downtown district, city curbside service ends and private firms handle extra pickups. The code previously allowed six cubic yards weekly per business, but 60 percent of bin customers violated rules by 1998, burdening taxpayers with excess waste and rising landfill costs. For more information call 1-694-1163 or 1-604-1147.
