Local man charged in Hagerstown burglary case

Frederick resident Alexander James Wood and two other suspects face burglary, property destruction, and theft charges after a string of break ins. At Old Orchard Store on Virginia Avenue a front door break and two cash registers were stolen. A separate Williamsport break in led deputies to halt two suspects on Hopewell Road. Michael Lynn Park, 31, joined the trio in custody. all three held at Washington County Detention Center with bonds set at 51,400 for Park and 50,000 each for Wood and King.

Truck driver badly hurt in I-81 wreck near Hagerstown

Maryland State Police report a tractor trailer driven by James Wilkerson 52 of Harrisburg ran off the southbound I-81 near Maugans Avenue at about 5 30 Saturday morning. The truck struck trees leaving Wilkerson trapped for 45 minutes as the slow lane closed for an hour. Condition undetermined. investigation ongoing.

Maryland's arts council approved about 80 000 in grants to Frederick County. Frederick Arts Council receives 51348. Weinberg Center for the Arts gets 12000 for its 1996 operating budget. Obituary for Virginia Fogle 88 of Mount Pleasant

Mrs. Virginia Mae Fogle 88 of 10101 Kelly Road Mount Pleasant died June 24 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born February 10 1907 in Frederick County she was the daughter of George T. and Fannie Rippeon. Survived by five daughters two sons a sister twenty grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. Funeral services 2 pm Tuesday June 27 at D D Hartzler Libertytown funeral home with interment in Fairmount Cemetery Libertytown. The family invites friends 7 to 9 pm Monday June 26.
