Freight Hits Work Train In Martinsburg Derailment
A freight wreck in Martinsburg derailed seven cars a caboose and an engine on Thursday when a fast freight collided with a work train. Engineer J C McNerney from Cumberland and Chas Evans from Ireland jumped to safety over a 25 foot embankment but sustained lacerations. The engineer was dug out and Roth men were hospitalized as thousands of glass jars and debris trapped workers. Property loss estimated at $500,906.
