Clabaugh Accepts 40 Day Sentence For Liquor Sale
Charles A Socks Clabaugh about 28 was found guilty of selling a half pint of manshine liquor before Justice J Grahame Johnson and sentenced to pay 200 dollars or 40 days in jail. He chose the 40 days and is serving it. Sheriff James A Jones had arrested him Saturday evening after spotting the attempt to sell to Frank Chase at Market and All Saints streets.

Coal Mine Opens After Strike Guarded by Guns
At Lester and Shere strip mine six miles east of Herrin Wisconsin men in two lines guarded the site as 44 workers resumed coal production. This marks the first coal mined since the April 1 strike. Sentries monitored the roadway leading to the mine.
