June 17 Leavenworth reports a suspected plot by local Black residents to arm themselves with government revolvers sold by Fort Leavenworth soldiers after the Fred Alexander burning. Police and officers recovered several weapons. three Black men who bought them were arrested and detained.
Standing of the clubs in the race for pennants shows Baltimore at 47 wins 27 losses and Boston at 38 23. American League games were rained out for several matchups including Boston Detroit Philadelphia Milwaukee and Baltimore Chicago. National League listings show Pittsburgh New York Philadelphia and Cincinnati with scattered results. Sunday games in the National League included Cincinnati over Philadelphia and St Louis over Brooklyn among others with Chicago and New York playing to a draw in an extended inning.
Chicago June 17 The Tribune reports Harriman combine gains control of Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul and a community of interest among western lines. Morgan and Hartman to direct policy, with funds to complete transfers. Western roads to be pooled under Harriman Kuhn Loeb Rockefeller interests, with key roles for Morgen and Hartman.

Also reported Lula Prince Kennedy found guilty of second degree murder in Kansas City and three Italian laborers killed by a train near Norristown Pennsylvania.
