Amended Guffey Ballot Bill Reported In Senate
Harrisburg June 1 The Senate reported from the elections committee the Guffey ballot bill with amendments. The new provisions allow opening ballot boxes in the presence of the court upon elector complaints of fraud. The bill is on third reading and can be called up anytime. The Senate refused to concur in house amendments to the congressional apportionment bill and set a conference. A Stineman resolution urged the president to appoint Col James M. Bell brigadier general. Several bills passed, including juvenile detention, butter manufacture and sale regulation, plus appropriations. The Fecht and Scott supplemental rapid transit bills passed second reading unanimously. Upcoming business includes appropriation bills on second and final passage and railway bills on third reading.
