Pair crash in flight to promote peace
A single engine plane on a peace mission crashed near Yeager Airport in Charleston, killing both occupants. Retired Air Force Col. Frank Martineau and Marjorie Zeuch were on a 4000 mile trip to promote World Friendship Association. The FAA investigator said the plane hit a tree, streaked into Coonskin Park, and landed nose first. The National Aeronautic Association had sanctioned the speed record attempt to reach all 48 state capitals.
