Stands Ready To Inoculate All Children

Basil O Connor of New York said the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis would run a nationwide inoculation program for all American children if the government supplied the Salk polio vaccine. He noted the foundation funds shots for first and second graders and has access to vaccine from six manufacturers. He refused to back either the administration or Democratic plan, stressing the vaccine should reach as many children as possible to curb polio. The American Medical Association said there is no emergency requiring free vaccine for all children and opposed the Democratic plan.
