Eisenhower Defends Joint Chiefs Amid 1952 Campaign Moves
Detroit dispatch reports General Dwight D. Eisenhower defending the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a Sunday morning news conference. He says he would not bring Douglas MacArthur into his government if President. Eisenhower contrasts with Senator Taft over plans for the Chiefs and MacArthur, vowing to keep military strength and advising limited military service in government while MacArthur remains on active duty without assignment. He also supports lowering the voting age to 18 and leaving Vatican ambassador decisions to public opinion.
